Cassandra's Corner

Name: Cassandra
Nicknames: Cassie, C-chan, Kan-Kan (my Chinese name is Kansang, hence the really weird nickname)
Born February 5th
Sign: Aquarius/Horse (metal)
Location: Native to Sweden; still currently living there.
Hot-headed, headstrong, cynical, too nice, quiet, patient, open, protective, absent-minded, feline, attention whore, intellectual, creative, ambitious, the thing running through my veins is caffeine and not blood, fiercely independent, feminist.

I’ve always been into creating things with my hands. I crocheted a lot when I was younger and I worked a lot with clay. Drawing was something I enjoyed, but I was discouraged by a teacher who kept holding me to adult standards (I wasn’t ten yet and she expected me to draw life-like portraits).

I got into photography when I was 12. I grew up with cameras and loved taking pictures, but it didn’t get serious until I was 12. I loved my little compact camera. But for some reason, after that I just made a long break. I didn’t pick up photography again until I was 17, when I bought my first digital camera. It was a Nikon Coolpix S200.

I used that one until I got a Nikon D300 as a graduation gift in 2010. What can I say? I like Nikon. The Cannon I tried out didn’t suit my needs.

I don’t photograph nearly as much now as I did between 2008 and 2010, but I’ll get into it soon. Nowadays I mostly draw and paint when I feel like working with my hands. I draw more than I paint, but when I paint I mainly use acrylic paint and water colours. There’s little patience in me for oil.

In 2010 I began scrapbooking, which is enjoyable since it gives me a use of my photos. I can make beautiful designs and frames for my images and I enjoy having a hands-on album to flip through.

In early 2011, I began making amigurumi. I haven’t had the opportunity yet to make many of them. But I’ve got to a point where I’m mostly satisfied with the result.
